Headed for Chief Joseph Pass, 1.3 miles away. This is the Continental Divide.
Then a beautiful downhill ride thru forests and alongside mountain streams.
Met a young couple from Virginia riding to Astoria, OR. also.
Visited the Big Hole Battlefield National Monument where the Nez Perce Indians were slaughtered by the U.S. Cavalry.
Hadb pizza for lunch while it rained outside for 20 minutes.
Then the mosquitos had me for lunch. Had no repellent.
Soaked in the Hot Springs pool at the motel in Jackson. Nice. Another guest, John Aulik, gave me some repellent. He writes travel guides for the state of Idaho. Ate grilled salmon in the western decor restaurant.
